Watermelon Margarita: The Ultimate Refreshing Summer Cocktail Recipe

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing Watermelon Margarita, perfect for summer! Made with fresh watermelon puree, tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup tequila blanco (silver)
  • ½ cup Cointreau or other orange liqueur
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice, plus extra for rimming glasses
  • ¼ cup agave nectar, or to taste
  • Ice
  • Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon Puree: Cube the watermelon and blend until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve for the smoothest result (optional but recommended). Discard solids.
  2. Mix Margarita: In a large pitcher, combine watermelon puree, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and agave nectar. Stir well.
  3. Adjust Sweetness: Taste and add more agave nectar if needed.
  4. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or longer).
  5. Prepare Glasses (Optional): Rim glasses with salt or sugar.
  6. Add Ice: Fill glasses with ice.
  7. Pour and Garnish: Stir the margarita mixture and pour into prepared glasses. Garnish with watermelon and lime wedges.
  8. Serve Immediately: Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicy margarita, add jalapeño slices to the watermelon while blending.
  • For a frozen margarita, blend all ingredients with 2 cups of ice.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the tequila and Cointreau.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness to your preference.
  • Choose a ripe, juicy watermelon.
  • This recipe is easily scalable for batch cocktails.
