Tequila Ombre Mimosas: The Ultimate Brunch Cocktail Recipe

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

A festive mimosa with tequila, orange juice, grenadine, and Prosecco, creating a beautiful ombre effect.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) chilled Prosecco or other dry sparkling wine
  • 1 cup orange juice, pulp-free preferred
  • 1/2 cup tequila blanco (silver tequila)
  • 1/4 cup grenadine syrup
  • Orange slices, for garnish
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Salt or sugar for rimming the glasses (optional)

Instructions

  1. (Optional) Prepare Glasses: If desired, rim champagne flutes or cocktail glasses with salt or sugar. Spread salt/sugar on a small plate. Moisten glass rims with an orange slice or damp paper towel. Gently press moistened rim into salt/sugar, rotating until coated. Set aside.
  2. Pour Grenadine: Gently pour about 1 tablespoon of grenadine syrup into the bottom of each prepared glass.
  3. Combine Orange Juice and Tequila: In a separate pitcher or measuring cup, combine the orange juice and tequila. Stir gently.
  4. Slowly Pour Orange Juice Mixture: Very slowly and carefully pour the orange juice and tequila mixture over the grenadine in each glass. Fill each glass about halfway. Pour over the back of a spoon to help disperse the liquid gently.
  5. Top with Prosecco: Gently top each glass with chilled Prosecco. Pour slowly, tilting the glass slightly, to prevent excessive fizzing. Fill each glass almost to the top.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each mimosa with an orange slice. Add ice cubes if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less grenadine.
  • Experiment with different juices like grapefruit, pineapple, or cranberry.
  • Tequila reposado can be used for a richer flavor.
  • Add a splash of lime juice for extra zing.
  • For a mocktail, substitute Prosecco with sparkling cider or club soda and use a non-alcoholic tequila alternative.
  • Batch the orange juice and tequila mixture ahead of time.
  • Infuse tequila with fruits or herbs for a unique twist.
  • Choose a dry Prosecco like “Brut” or “Extra Brut.”
  • Chill all ingredients before preparing.
  • Prepare glasses ahead of time.
  • Mix orange juice and tequila ahead of time, but add Prosecco just before serving.
