Ingredients
Scale
- 2 oz tequila (preferably 100% agave)
- 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
- 1 oz orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
- 1 oz sparkling water or club soda
- 1–2 teaspoons of agave syrup or a sugar substitute (like stevia or monk fruit) to taste
- Ice cubes
- Salt for rimming the glass (optional)
- Lime wedges for garnish
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- If you like a salted rim, take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your glass to moisten it. Dip the rim into a small plate of salt for an even coating. Set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange juice. Add 1-2 teaspoons of agave syrup or your chosen sugar substitute if you prefer a sweeter drink. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, covering the liquid.
- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill and mix the ingredients well.
- Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice cubes. Using a strainer, pour the mixed drink from the shaker into the glass over the ice. Top off with 1 oz of sparkling water or club soda for a refreshing fizz.
- Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Optionally, add fresh mint leaves or a slice of lime for an elegant touch.
- Give your drink a gentle stir to combine the sparkling water with the rest of the ingredients. Sip and enjoy your refreshing sugar-free margarita, adjusting sweetness as needed.
