  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 75 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 glasses 1x

Description

Enjoy a refreshing Strawberry Limeade that combines the sweetness of strawberries with the tartness of fresh lime juice. Perfect for hot days and gatherings, this vibrant drink can be customized with garnishes and variations for a delightful twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 68 limes)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Extra lime slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops using a paring knife or a strawberry huller.
  3. Slice the strawberries into halves or quarters for easier blending.
  4. Place the sliced strawberries into a blender and blend on high speed until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  5. (Optional) Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds for a smoother texture.
  6. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  7. Add the cold water to the pitcher and stir to combine, creating a refreshing limeade base.
  8. Pour the strawberry puree into the pitcher with the limeade.
  9. Stir gently to mix, creating a marbled effect without over-stirring.
  10. Taste the mixture and add more sugar if desired, one tablespoon at a time.
  11. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  12. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled strawberry limeade over the ice, filling each glass about three-quarters full.
  13. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime on the rim for added color and aroma.
  14. For a fizzy drink, top each glass with a splash of club soda or sparkling water before serving.
  15. Add other fruits like raspberries or blueberries to the strawberry puree for a mixed berry limeade.
  16. Experiment with a splash of coconut water for a tropical twist or a hint of jalapeño for a spicy kick.
  17. Store any leftover strawberry limeade in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving as ingredients may settle.
  18. Freeze leftover limeade in ice cube trays for later use in chilling drinks without dilution.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness of the limeade to your preference by varying the amount of sugar.
  • This drink is perfect for summer gatherings, barbecues, or simply enjoying on a warm day.
