Strawberry Kiwi Water: Refreshing Recipe & Health Benefits

  • Total Time: 135 minutes
  • Yield: 8 cups 1x

Description

Refreshing and hydrating strawberry kiwi infused water. A simple and healthy way to enjoy the flavors of fresh fruit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 kiwis, peeled and sliced
  • Optional: Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Optional: Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Wash the Strawberries: Gently wash the strawberries under cool running water.
  2. Hull and Slice the Strawberries: Remove the green tops (hulls) from the strawberries and slice into thin slices (about ¼ inch thick).
  3. Peel the Kiwis: Peel the kiwis using a vegetable peeler or a paring knife.
  4. Slice the Kiwis: Slice the peeled kiwis into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick).
  5. Prepare the Mint (Optional): If using mint, rinse the leaves and gently pat them dry. You can leave the leaves whole or lightly crush them.
  6. Choose Your Infusion Method: Use a pitcher, a large glass jar, or even individual water bottles.
  7. Layer the Fruit: Place the sliced strawberries and kiwis into your chosen container, alternating layers.
  8. Add Mint (Optional): If using mint, add the leaves to the container as well.
  9. Pour in the Water: Pour the filtered water over the fruit, ensuring the fruit is completely submerged.
  10. Gently Stir: Use a long spoon to gently stir the fruit and water.
  11. Refrigerate: Cover the pitcher or container and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  12. Strain (Optional): If you prefer a clearer water without fruit pieces, you can strain the water through a fine-mesh sieve before serving.
  13. Add Ice: Pour the infused water into glasses filled with ice.
  14. Garnish (Optional): Garnish with a few fresh mint leaves or a slice of strawberry or kiwi.
  15. Refill the Water: As you drink the water, you can refill the pitcher with more filtered water.
  16. Storage: Store the infused water in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  17. Discard the Fruit: After 3 days, discard the fruit.

Notes

  • Use the freshest, ripest fruit for the best flavor.
  • The longer the water infuses, the stronger the flavor will be.
  • You can refill the pitcher with more water a few times, but the flavor will become weaker with each refill.
  • Experiment with different fruits, herbs, and sweeteners to customize the recipe.
  • For a fizzy twist, use sparkling water instead of still water.
  • If the water isn’t flavorful enough, try infusing it for a longer period of time or using more fruit. You can also gently muddle the fruit before adding the water to release more of its juices.
  • If the fruit is becoming mushy, it’s likely been infusing for too long. Remove the fruit after 3 days to prevent it from breaking down.
  • If the water is too sweet, use less fruit or add a squeeze of lemon juice to balance the sweetness.
  • If the water is bitter, it could be due to the kiwi skin. Make sure to peel the kiwis thoroughly before slicing them.
