- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup honey (preferably local)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh fruit for topping (sliced bananas, strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, add the softened unsalted butter.
- Pour in the honey, using a spatula to scrape every last drop.
- Add the ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
- Blend the mixture using a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as desired.
- Transfer to a small serving bowl and set aside (refrigerate if making ahead).
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) or prepare a skillet.
- Lay the thick-cut bread slices on a baking sheet or have the skillet ready.
- Spread a generous amount of honey butter on one side of each slice.
- If baking, place in the oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. If using a skillet, cook buttered side down for 3-4 minutes, then flip.
- Remove the toast from the oven or skillet and let it cool for a minute.
- Spread more honey butter on the toasted side if desired.
- Add your choice of fresh fruit on top.
- Drizzle with additional honey if desired.
- Dust with powdered sugar for a finishing touch.
