Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 ripe avocado, diced
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- 1/4 red onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (optional for heat)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well blended.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is well coated.
- Cover the dish or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, combine the diced avocado, diced tomato, chopped red onion, cilantro, and minced jalapeño (if using).
- Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and gently toss with a fork or spoon. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the salmon from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Discard the leftover marinade.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes until it easily releases from the grill.
- Carefully flip the salmon and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F/63°C).
- Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
- Place a grilled salmon fillet on each plate and generously spoon the avocado salsa over the top.
- Garnish with additional cilantro or lime wedges if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Choose fresh salmon fillets with vibrant color and firm texture.
- Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
- Marinate the salmon for up to 2 hours for more flavor, but avoid marinating too long due to the lime juice.
- If you dont have a grill, you can broil or bake the salmon at 400°F (200°C) for about 12-15 minutes.
