Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of thick-cut bread (like brioche or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 slices of cooked bacon or sausage patties
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- Butter for cooking
- Maple syrup for serving
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, crack the 4 large eggs and whisk them until smooth. Add 1 cup of whole milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Whisk until well combined and slightly frothy. Set aside.
- Lay out the 8 slices of thick-cut bread on a clean surface. Optionally, cut each slice into halves or quarters for smaller sliders.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a generous pat of butter. Once melted and sizzling, dip each piece of bread into the batter, coating both sides. Let the bread soak for a few seconds for extra flavor. Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
- On a clean cutting board or plate, place one slice of French toast. Top with a slice of cooked bacon or a sausage patty, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese. Finish with another slice of French toast and press down gently. Repeat for remaining sliders.
- In the same skillet, add more butter and heat over medium-low. Carefully place the assembled sliders in the skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Cover with a lid for a minute if needed to help the cheese melt.
- Remove the sliders from the skillet and place on a serving platter. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to customize the sliders with your favorite cheese or breakfast meat.
- For a sweeter touch, consider adding fresh fruit or whipped cream on the side.
