  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (8 sliders) 1x

Description

Enjoy a delightful breakfast with these French Toast Breakfast Sliders, featuring thick-cut bread, savory bacon or sausage, and melted cheddar cheese, all drizzled with maple syrup. Perfect for brunch, these sliders offer a delicious twist on the classic French toast!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread (like brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of cooked bacon or sausage patties
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, crack the 4 large eggs and whisk them until smooth. Add 1 cup of whole milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Whisk until well combined and slightly frothy. Set aside.
  2. Lay out the 8 slices of thick-cut bread on a clean surface. Optionally, cut each slice into halves or quarters for smaller sliders.
  3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a generous pat of butter. Once melted and sizzling, dip each piece of bread into the batter, coating both sides. Let the bread soak for a few seconds for extra flavor. Place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.
  4. On a clean cutting board or plate, place one slice of French toast. Top with a slice of cooked bacon or a sausage patty, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese. Finish with another slice of French toast and press down gently. Repeat for remaining sliders.
  5. In the same skillet, add more butter and heat over medium-low. Carefully place the assembled sliders in the skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Cover with a lid for a minute if needed to help the cheese melt.
  6. Remove the sliders from the skillet and place on a serving platter. Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the sliders with your favorite cheese or breakfast meat.
  • For a sweeter touch, consider adding fresh fruit or whipped cream on the side.
