  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 14 cups 1x

Description

Sweet and crunchy Cupid Chow (Puppy Chow/Muddy Buddies) perfect for Valentine’s Day! Made with cereal, a buttery sugar coating, powdered sugar, M&M’s, and sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Rice Chex, Corn Chex, or Crispix cereal (or a combination!)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup Valentine’s Day M&M’s (or any festive candy!)
  • 1 cup Valentine’s Day sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Measure out 12 cups of cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Make the Coating: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar and corn syrup. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Boil the Coating: Increase heat slightly and bring to a gentle boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Add Vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted butter mixture over the cereal in the bowl. Gently toss to coat evenly.
  6. Powdered Sugar Time: Divide the coated cereal into two large resealable bags. Add 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar to each bag.
  7. Shake It Up: Seal the bags tightly and shake vigorously until the cereal is completely coated in powdered sugar.
  8. Cooling: Spread the powdered sugar-coated cereal out on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool completely (about 15-20 minutes).
  9. Add Festive Touches: Once cooled, sprinkle Valentine’s Day M&M’s and sprinkles evenly over the top. Gently toss to distribute.
  10. Serve: Serve immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.

  • Use a large bowl for tossing.
