Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Slice the beef sirloin into 1/4 inch thick slices. Season with salt, pepper, and half of the ground cumin. Let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables: Slice the onion, mince the garlic and ginger, and cut the bell pepper into strips. Break broccoli into small florets and leave snap peas whole.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for 2-3 minutes without stirring. Stir and cook for another 1-2 minutes until just cooked through. Remove from skillet.
  4. Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the onion, garlic, and ginger for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add bell pepper, broccoli, and snap peas, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Combine and Season: Return the beef to the skillet. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and remaining ground cumin. If desired, add chili flakes. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve: Plate the stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
