Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond or oat milk)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey, to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Fresh fruit for topping (such as bananas, berries, or apples)
- Chopped nuts or seeds for topping (such as walnuts, almonds, or chia seeds)
- Additional sweetener, if desired
Instructions
- Measure out 1 cup of steel cut oats and rinse them under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear (optional).
- Add the rinsed oats to the Instant Pot.
- Pour in 4 cups of water and 1 cup of milk.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup (or honey), 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- If desired, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for extra flavor.
- Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set the valve to sealing.
- Select the “Manual” or “Pressure Cook” setting and set the timer for 10 minutes on high pressure.
- Once cooking is complete, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for about 10 minutes, then carefully switch the valve to venting to release any remaining pressure.
- Open the lid and stir the oats. If you prefer a thicker consistency, let them sit for a few minutes with the lid on.
- Scoop the creamy oats into bowls and top with fresh fruits, chopped nuts or seeds, and additional sweetener if desired.
- For extra creaminess, add a dollop of yogurt or a splash of additional milk.
Notes
- Customize your oats with seasonal fruits or different spices.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat with a splash of milk or water.
