  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Enjoy a delicious homemade Caramel Macchiato with layers of frothed milk, espresso, and a sweet caramel drizzle. This versatile recipe can be served hot or iced, making it a perfect treat for any coffee lover at any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of milk (whole, skim, or your favorite non-dairy alternative)
  • 1 shot of espresso (or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee)
  • 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
  • Ice cubes (if serving iced)
  • Optional: whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Brew your espresso using an espresso machine or make a strong cup of coffee (about 1/2 cup) using a French press or drip coffee maker.
  2. Set the espresso or coffee aside to cool slightly.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. Store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.
  6. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Froth the milk if you have a frother.
  7. For an iced version, fill a glass with ice cubes.
  8. Pour 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup into your serving glass (first layer for iced version).
  9. Pour the hot frothed milk over the vanilla syrup (or over ice for iced version).
  10. Slowly pour the espresso or strong coffee over the milk to create layers.
  11. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce on top, adding more if desired.
  12. Optionally, top with whipped cream and an extra drizzle of caramel sauce.
  13. Gently stir to mix flavors, being careful not to disturb the layers too much.
  14. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon, and enjoy your homemade caramel macchiato!

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of milk for varied flavors and textures.
