  • Total Time: 135 minutes
  • Yield: 64 (1-inch) squares 1x

Description

Easy, creamy, and decadent fudge perfect for holidays or any occasion! Made with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and optional mix-ins like nuts and peppermint.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies (optional, for topping)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring the paper overhangs the sides.
  2. Combine Chocolate Chips: In a large, microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips.
  3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk over the chocolate chips.
  4. Add Butter: Add the softened butter to the bowl.
  5. Microwave in Intervals: Microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir well.
  6. Continue Microwaving and Stirring: Microwave for another 30 seconds, then stir again. Repeat in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until almost completely melted. Be careful not to overheat.
  7. Stir Until Smooth: Stir continuously until completely smooth and glossy.
  8. Incorporate Vanilla Extract: Stir in the vanilla extract.
  9. Add Salt: Add a pinch of salt.
  10. Add Nuts (Optional): If using, gently fold nuts into the fudge mixture.
  11. Pour into Pan: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  12. Smooth the Surface: Gently smooth the surface with a spatula.
  13. Add Peppermint Topping (Optional): If using, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies evenly over the top and gently press them in.
  14. Chill: Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to set completely.
  15. Lift and Cut: Lift the fudge from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares with a sharp knife, wiping the knife clean after each cut.
  16. Store: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  17. Serve: Serve chilled or at room temperature.
