  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Crispy chicken fingers coated in a flavorful batter, paired with a sweet and savory dipping sauce. Ideal for family dinners or game day snacks!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into strips, about 1-inch wide.
  2. Season the chicken strips with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and five-spice powder. Mix well and let marinate for 15-20 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and five-spice powder. Whisk until well mixed.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and add cold water. Mix until combined.
  5. Gradually pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients while whisking continuously until a smooth batter forms. Adjust with more water if necessary.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  7. Dip each marinated chicken strip into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
  8. Carefully place the battered chicken strips into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove cooked chicken fingers and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  10. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Whisk until the honey is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
  11. Arrange the fried chicken fingers on a serving platter.
  12. Drizzle some dipping sauce over the chicken fingers and serve the remaining sauce in a small bowl on the side.
  13. Garnish with chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken in soy sauce and ginger for a few hours before breading.
  • For a healthier option, you can bake the chicken fingers instead of frying them.
