Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wash and peel the apples, then core and slice them into 1/4-inch thick slices.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples and fresh raspberries.
  4. Add lemon juice, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Gently toss to coat the fruit evenly.
  5. Set the fruit mixture aside to let the flavors meld.
  6. In another mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  7. Pour in the melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  8. Optionally, add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
  9. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  10. Pour the fruit mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
  11. Sprinkle the crumble topping generously over the fruit layer.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
  13. If the topping browns too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil for the last 10-15 minutes.
  14. Let the crumble cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  15. Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
  16. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
